Join us for Homestead Heroes Summer Camp, a two-week adventure where kids explore the art of homesteading while enjoying the best of summertime fun! Campers will get hands-on experience in self-sufficiency—learning skills like food preservation, making herbal medicines and products, buckskin crafting, and survival skills. By the end of camp, they’ll bring home handcrafted goods and food to share with their families.
Kids will cool off in cowboy pools, slip n slide,play pickleball, sand volleyball, and gaga ball, and enjoy plenty of outdoor adventures. Homestead Heroes Summer Camp is the perfect blend of learning, creativity, and play, leaving campers with valuable life skills, confidence, and unforgettable summer memories!

Overall Structure
Days:
8 days (Monday–Thursday for 2 weeks)
Hours: 9 AM – 4 PM
Theme: Homesteading skills and lots of play.
Daily Schedule:
Morning: Morning Circle, Games & Main Activities
Afternoon: Games, outdoor activities (Sand Volleyball, Cowboy Pools, Slip & Slide, Gaga Ball, Basketball, Pickleball)
Daily Reflection: “Hero’s Circle” to share what they learned.

DAY 1- Buskin Crafting- Keepsake Pouch.
DAY 2- first half -Knot Tying & Mini-Village making. Second Half- Scale up the shelters.
DAY 3- Soap Making
DAY 4- Fire Challenge, Bow Drill, Group big fire, Smores (Healthy)
DAY 5- Salves ( sunburn and bug bite)- Immunity & Calming Tea Blending
DAY 6- Dream Catcher Making
DAY 7- Raffia Basket & Pickling
DAY 8- Beeswax Candle Making & Pickling

The Venue
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our summer camp at Wild Roots, located just outside of Lockhart, TX. We are beyond grateful and excited to be able to offer this to our families. This is a beautiful 45 acre space with indoor/outdoor structures, hiking trails, sand volleyball, cowboy pools and more, that will be woven into the structure of the day!

Why is it called Homestead Heroes?
The purpose of this summer camp is to give kids a different experience of what summer camp is all about and a preview of Apogee Lockhart. We will not be going deep into academics, we believe summer is about having fun, learning useful skills, transformation, facing some challenges and bringing home gifts and resources for the whole family! Part of the school curriculum will include survival skills and homesteading skills. Our goal is to focus on many of the skills in a short period of time over the summer and to seed interest in larger projects over the school year.
We are RESEEDING FREEDOM THROUGH EDUCATION FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
How does this serve the mission of Apogee Lockhart?
We are focused on creating a new system and new experiences for kids and families. We aim to do this through a summer camp as well. This is not summer "school," or a run around and play all day experience. It is focused to learn useful and forgotten skills, not just in education but in life as a whole. Apogee is all about bringing family and community to the education and mentoring of our children.
Is food included?
Kids must bring their own healthy lunch , a snack , and a water bottle. We will have water and will have some extra fruit and snacks on hand.
What does my child need to bring to camp?
-lunch, snack, and water bottle.
-bathing suit and towel.
-close toed shoes and water shoes if desired.
-sunscreen or hat ( we recommend mineral based, chemical free sunscreen)

Where do I park, and how do I get there?
Signs for parking will be visible on entrance and more detailed instructions will be emailed once you are registered.
How much will the camp cost?
This is based on the number of children you are registering, just as the full membership at Apogee Lockhart. However, it is not the same price per child. The base rate is $400 for each week, and it is $200 for the second child, and $100 for the Third(+) child, with a max of 700 for a family of 3 or more.
What if I can’t afford it?
Our goal is to transform what education looks like and connect with families over shared values. That is number one! Please reach out to us directly to have this conversation as there may be other opportunities that we can arrange, such as a payment plan. We have limited scholarships for the summer camp at 1-2 families. Email us at [email protected].

The Invitation
The theme is Homestead Heroes! Where kids will learn all about self sufficiency from food preservation, soap making, building up the home apothecary, tea blending, navigating the land, fire skills, shelter building, and more.
The invitation is to get closer to nature, the elements, have fun, connect and build up resources for the whole family. These day projects will be samplings of much larger projects we will do throughout the yearly curriculum at Apogee Lockhart!
